Unless your homework problem says something different, you lose approximately 3.5 degrees in temperature with each 1,000 ft increase in altitude on the mountain. So first, we can do 5,500 ÷ 1,000 = 5.5, and then multiply 3.5 × 5.5 = 19.25.
Then we subtract 19.25 from 74, so 74 - 19.25 = 54.75.
