There is one big difference between the metabolic pathways of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, which is whether or not they have one pathway or varying pathways. Eukaryotes are primarily aerobic, meaning they turn glucose into energy (ATP). Prokaryotes, on the other hand, have varying metabolic pathways, therefore, can either be aerobic (like Eukaryotes) or anaerobic. Anaerobic metabolism is making energy through the combustion of carbs with a lack of oxygen.
