How will a person know if the transport mechanism in the cell throughout our body is starting not working?

There are many different transport mechanisms that the cell employs. Perhaps the most basic is transport of sugars into the cell. Your cells would start to fail their function, you would feel terrible, then die. Other transport mechanisms (for specific cations, anions, amino acids, fatty acids, water, etc.) have their own characteristic symptoms -- it would really help if you framed this question relative to your present curriculum??
