Suppose you have just enough money, in coins, to pay for a loaf of bread priced at $1.95. You have 12 coins, all quarters (worth $0.25) and dimes (worth $0.10). Let t equal the number of quarters and d equal the
number of dimes. Write the system that models this information.
For a system of equations, all we have to do is write several equations to represent the different pieces of information that we know. First, we know there are 12 coins total, but we don't know how many of each there are. So we could say t+d=12
For the second equations, we know how much the bread costs but we don't know how many of each coin you have. So you could say .25t+.10d=1.95
Now to write the system it would look like this:
t+d=12
.25t+.10d=1.95
I hope this helps!
