Hi there!
The endosymbiotic theory explains how eukaryotic cells might have originated and evolved through the process of multiple cells joining together to form one, creating a symbiotic relationship.
Phagocytosis is similar to endosymbiosis in that it enables eukaryotes to feed on other organism. The cell uses its cell membrane to engulf/ingest a solid particle.
However, pinocytosis is the fluid endocytosis process where small particles are suspended in extracellular fluid and are brought into and engulfed into the cell creating a vesicle in the cell.
One way I remember it is phagocytosis is "cell eating", and pinocytosis is "cell drinking" therefore phagocytosis is most similar and analogous to the endosymbiotic theory.
Hope that helps :)
