14 elements of a democracy are:
- checks and balances
- civic participation
- economic freedom
- education
- equality
- free and fair elections
- freedom
- free press
- independent judiciary
- limited government
- minimal corruption
- multiparty system
- rule of law
- transparency
All of these are essential to a functioning democracy. The ranking is all up to you and what you feel and can explain as most important to least important. Do you think that a democracy has to be a multiparty system? If not that could be less essential, if so it could be more essential. Hopefully, that makes sense!
