At this one coastal city, the tides vary greatly during the day. During May, the predicted height of the tides are 3.0 m at 4 AM, 11 m at 10 AM, 3.0 m at 4 PM and 11 m at 10 PM. Assume we start the graph at midnight. What is the height of the tide at 7 AM? Round to the nearest tenth.

Plot the height H of the tides against the time t.

Determine the period of the function.

Notice that 7AM the point on the graph is a very specific point and you dont have to

come up with a formula for H(t).

Now had the problem asked what is the height of the tide ,say at midnight or at 8 AM, then we have to come

up with a formula of a sinusoidal function for H using the Phase Shift Technique
