Tabitha spins a first spinner and then spins a second spinner. Find the probability that the first spinner will stop on green and the second spinner will stop on yellow.

 

 

Write the probability as a fraction in simplest form.

Let A be the event the first spinner lands green, B the event the second spinner lands yellow.

P(A) = 1/3, and P(B) = 1/4 (based on visual inspection of the spinners)

A and B are independent, since one spin should not affect the other; so,

P(A and B) = P(A)*P(B) = (1/3)*(1/4) = 1/12
