It is likely that the SARS-CoV-2 Virus will undergo antigen shift if selective pressure is applied. There was some worry that the vaccine might apply selective pressure to facilitate this antigen shift. When the pneumococcal vaccines were first made available there was an alteration in the strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae strains that were seen in community acquired pneumonia. The reason this doesn't appear to have happened yet is because the target of the vaccine is the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein which if significantly mutated would hinder viral entry into the cell.
