Three years ago, the ratio of the Achilles age to Hercules age was 2 : 5 . Hercules is 12 years older than Achilles now. How old is Achilles now?

A/H = 2/5, 2H=5A, H =5A/2

(A+3) = (H+3)-12 = H-9

A+3 =H-9

A-H = -12

A-5A/2 =-12

-3A/2 =-12

A = (2/3)12 = 8 years old 3 years ago and 11 years old today

H=5A/2 = 5(8)/2 = 20 years old 3 years ago and 23 years old today

Achilles is now 11 years old

Hercules is 12 years older now, 11+12=23
