When you have a fraction (and only one fraction) on either side of the equal sign (or whole number works too); you would do cross multiplication to solve. So you multiply the terms diagonally, and put them on one side of the equal sign, and do the opposite diagonal on the other side. So for this one it would be:
(8)(4) = (1)(d)
32 = d
