So Hydroxide (OH-) is a base. This is actually the concentration that you use to find out how basic an aqueous solution is (pOH= -log[OH-]).
Hydronium ions are acidic, and are used to calculate the pH (pH= -log[H3O+]).
Acids turn litmus paper red, and bases turn litmus paper blue, therefore this is an acid.
Slippery texture - Think of your soap. Soap is very basic! It feels slippery because it reacts with your oils in your skin - saponification.
