In only one case is an individual taking an action that will make it likely that its own genes will be passed on to another generation.
We can eliminate #4 because there's no altruistic behavior being described. #'s 2 and 3 describe individuals helping individuals of other species meaning that they are only very distantly related.
In choice #1 a parent is risking its own life to protect the life of its offspring which contains 50% of its own DNA. This is the only reasonable answer here.
