Yes, this admitted Missouri as slave, Maine as free and drew the line at the 36º 30' latitude line as a precedent for new territories above this line to be free and below to allow slavery. This was upheld until the Kansas-Nebraska Act in 1854 overturned the decision by introducing the idea of popular sovereignty.
