and

( f+ g) means f + g.

(f + g) (1) means f(1 )+ g(1)

f(1) means the value of the function f when the input is 1 and the meaning for g(1) is similar.

We need to look at the ordered pairs for f. When the input is 1, what is the corresponding output?

The ordered pair (1, -1) in f reveals that f(1) = -1.

On similar lines, find g(1).

Then do f(1) + g(1) which is equal to ( f+ g) (1).
