Yes -
the dilution ratio is = the amount added to the container from the previous container to the new container divided by the total volume now in the container.
ex. First container has 2.0 M HCl. If 10 ml are taken from it and added to 90 ml of water in a new container the dilution is 10/(10+90) = 10/100 or 1/10.
