Theodora is known as one of the most influential women in the Byzantine empire. This is due to the great influence over the empire during her life before falling to what it believed to be cancer in 548 AD.
Theodora was famous for what she did for the women during her time in power. Her great influence over the empire allowed her to be a motive for women's rights. Thanks to her, rights for women were gained in both marriage/divorce concepts and in human trafficking. This is important as she did not grow up in power which gave her the point-of-view for women in need. The laws included strictly tporohinitons with young girls when it came to trafficking along with the divorce concept of allowing Byzantine women to steer away from abusive husbands and not stay trapped all their life.
Her death played a giant toll on the Byzantine empire when she passed.
