Then, for Brandon, c + p = 25
And for Jonathan, 2c + 3p = 57
Using Brandon's equation, we can subtract c from both sides to get p = 25 - c
Then, in Jonathan's equation, we can substitute "25 - c" wherever we see "p" because "p" equals "25 - c":
2c + 3(25 - c) = 57
2c + 75 - 3c = 57
-c + 75 = 57
-c = -18
c = 18
So the cotton candy costs $18 each
