About William

Bio

Since I retired (last worked as an Associate Technical Fellow engineer and Lead Technical Engineer at the Boeing Company), I've been tutoring fairly full time. This is my 8th school year and I love tutoring. I also am the father of 7 children. Additionally, I have many years experience working with, teaching, and counseling youth in a variety of age groups ranging from age 6 to 18. I love working with kids and enjoy helping them both learn and love to learn.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Brigham Young University and have more than 40 years of practical experience in working with Math on a daily basis.

I would love to help any student understand, enjoy, and develop proficiency in math and the sciences. Contact me to learn more or to set up tutoring times.

I was recently notified by Wyzant that I am rated in the top 3% of their tutors. I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics and have 35 plus years of engineering experience involving the use of math on a daily basis, including what's on the ACT. I am an experienced teacher and mentor being the father of 7 children, having served as a Boy Scout leader for over 20 years, and having been a church youth teacher and leader of age 6 to 18 year olds for many years.

Algebra 1

I was recently notified by Wyzant that I am rated in the top 3% of their tutors. I have a clear understanding of basic algebra, as well as the supporting math leading to it and the math it builds toward. A bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, a minor in mathematics, and the practicality of 35 years of engineering experience have prepared me. There are many ways of viewing, performing, and understanding basic algebra and my background and experience enable me to see how individuals best understand, learn, and perform algebraic work.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I was recently notified by Wyzant that I am rated in the top 3% of their tutors. A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a minor in mathematics, and 35 years of engineering experience have provided me with a clear understanding of advanced algebra. My experience working with youth, as well as the practicality of experience, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways an individual understands the techniques of advanced algebra. I will be able to apply those ways to help individual students enjoy the subject.
Calculus

Calculus

I was recently notified by Wyzant that I am rated in the top 3% of their tutors. I am an experienced tutor, teacher and mentor and can use that experience to help each individual understand in their own way.
Geometry

Geometry

I was recently notified by Wyzant that I am rated in the top 3% of their tutors. I have a great love for geometry and the associated logical thinking that is its basis; however, I also understand that its principles have many ways of being viewed, performed, and understood. My experience in math and a practicality that has come from experience, have prepared me with the ability to see the best ways a particular individual will be able to understand geometry and I will be able to apply that to help each student both learn and enjoy it.
Physics

Physics

I was recently notified by Wyzant that I am rated in the top 3% of their tutors. I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics with extensive work in Calculus (the math behind Physics). My university studies included extensive Physics work and work in related subjects (in which I did well). WONDERFUL!!! Relief at last!

Bill is knowledgeable, probes for answers making the session interactive, helps with homework, he's patient, and can speak to where your child is at their level of understanding. Quickly, he realized where he needed to begin with my daughter and they were off and running - - my daughter told me she is so happy to realize she IS capable of understanding physics - with help. Very much appreciate Bill. We'll continue sessions with him.

Brushing up for a Final!

William was sooo helpful with very little notice. He helped my daughter through some areas in geometry that she was struggling with and uncovered some weakness along the way. William offered her tips to use when choosing the correct answer on her test and helped her to build some strategy for moving forward on her tests!
