Yes it does have implications concerning embryonic stem cells. Taking stem cells from adults is much less controversial than embryos, since it doesn't cause direct and certain harm to the donor. Embryonic stem cells derived from the umbilical cord after birth can also be used for stem cells. The controversy is when a fetus has been aborted, and the cells are collected there after. Luckily, with the introduction of Adult stem cells, there are many different ways to collect stem cells without the risk of unethical means.
