Usually each carbon can make up to 4 bonds with other carbons or molecules, meaning carbon can create many different shapes. Some of the most common are hexagons and pentagons. carbon can also come in tightly packed rows to form things like graphene, or stacked cubes to form things like diamonds. Some of the more exotic things carbon can form are Buckyballs and carbon nanotubes.
