Imagine you were asked to extract DNA from the cells of another plant species. Choose 3 species of plants and research the size of their genome. How many chromosomes does the species have? Is the genome relatively similar in size or highly variable? Which would be the best choice for DNA extraction?

For plants genome size, I would suggest to simply google it, you will find multiple authentic sources that provides genome sizes of various plants. However, one point to consider is that genome size really varies from one species/organism to another, so the genome size would be highly variable.

For plant DNA extraction, there are multiple ways. In real life scenario, there are commercial plant DNA extraction kits available through various companies. As a biologist, I buy kits that is used to extract plant DNA. Method-wise, one of the methods used for plant DNA extraction is CTAB method that uses the ionic detergent cetyltrimethylammonium bromiden (CTAB).
