Hi Josh, I am just curious about something, the question says choose following statements which I believe means more than one answer. I agree C is incorrect and B is correct. Do you think A or D could be correct or incorrect ?

Personally, not sure what the book says, but D is certainly correct, it's about as close to a textbook use of a blank as you could get. Having a '0' to see how much of the thing you're testing for (the example I used in the video was light reflectance, a better one may be radiation) is unavoidable is invaluable. A I also think is absolutely correct, blanks often test to see if the procedure you're performing has some biasing effect on the results, so if you don't perform the same extraction procedure then you can't get a good test. If I had to pick a second I would lean more towards A, the phrasing of the answer makes it a bit ambiguous as to what the blank is testing for, maybe a blank would be unnecessary in this specific procedure, but I do think that it's correct. I think with a question like this, I'm not saying to rush through it, but don't let yourself get in your own head too much. Look at the question, evaluate it, and trust your gut. Even if the question may imply that there are multiple answers, if you have that one answer that you're absolutely confident in, you don't need to talk yourself into picking a second one that you won't be as confident about, it's generally safer to just stick to your guns.
