Gravitational force is defined by Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation:
where "F" is the gravitational force, "G" is the gravitation constant, "m1" and "m2" are the masses of the two objects in question, and "r" is the distance between the objects.
Since "r" is squared, the distance between the objects has the greater effect.
