f(x) and g(x), as they are given are composite functions.
You're given that f(5) = 15. That means that when x = 5, y = 15. You're not given the function but the x & y corresponding points.
If g(x) = f(x +2) - 5 and you need to find the value of the function, g(x) or y when x = 3, you just replace x with the value of 3 in the function for g(x)...
So g(3) = f(3 + 2) - 5 but you know that f(3+2) is basically f(5) which is equal to 15.
Therefore g(3) = 15 - 5 = 10.
Hope this helps... :)
