Ground Beef Bacteria

I wonder: can mold and yeast also cause ground beef to go bad? Or is it only bacteria in ground beef that causes the change in color etc after expiration date?

Certainly mold can grow in grow in ground beef. However, the color change of beef from red/purpleish to brown is not due to bacteria, mold or other microorganisms. It is due to the reaction of pigments in the beef to oxygen.
