Determined Masters Student Ready to Help You Succeed
Hello! I feel like it would best help you if I also provided you with the definitions of each word, so that you can better understand the paragraph that I wrote below.
Amiable: happy, friendly, pleasant
Pompous: self-important, believing that you are better than others
Defuse: to reduce the danger or tension of a situation or thing
Astute: smart, having the ability to complete something in an accurate manner
Novice: a beginner/inexperienced
Replete: very full, filled with food
Recidivist: a repeat offender
Innocuous: safe
Vacillate: to be stuck between two opinions or choices
The paragraph:
I was feeling rather amiable today as I walked my dog, being sure to enjoy each moment. Pluto, my dog, on the other hand, was acting rather pompous as he felt the need to stop every five seconds to take a rest, as if he was the king of the show. When my neighbor's dog came by however, Pluto rushed over to him, barking and jumping. It was if the two were trying to fight! In order to defuse the situation, I offered Pluto a treat in an attempt to distract him from the excitement. Seeing my plan work, I began to feel very astute. I am definitely not a novice when it comes to these sorts of situations. Pluto was replete with his treats, sitting on the grass with a rather full tummy. I was beginning to feel rather relaxed until my neighbor's dog came back again, this time with the determination of a recidivist. Sick of the drama, I decided that it was probably time to head back to our innocuous home. The only issue was that Pluto now began to vacillate between the two possible routes home; would we be cutting through the park, or just simply walking along the street?
I hope this helps!
