The specific growth rate is a better measure of the cell’s growth rate than dX/dt since it is independent of the initial cell concentration and the time interval used to calculate it. Furthermore, it takes into account the cell's exponential growth rate. TLDR: we have less numbers/variables to worry about taking into account when we use the SPG.
