No, the work doesn't change. Zero work is being done since the direction of the force (up) is perpendicular to the way the person is walking. If force and distance are in the same direction, there is positive work. If force and distance are in the opposite direction, there is negative work. And if force and distances are in directions perpendicular to each other, there is zero work.
