An audio speaker producing a steady sound at an outdoor concert is 32 ft away from you. If you move to a position where the speaker is 64 ft distant, by what factor will the amplitude of the sound change?

I1/I2 = d2²/d1² = A1 /A2 ( intensity is inversely proportional to square of distance )

where I is for intensity , d for distance and A for amplitude

I1/I2 = 64²/32² = A1/A2

A1/A2 =(64*64) /32*32 = 4

A2 = A1/4

Amplitude will fall to 1/4 of Amplitude at 32 ft
