Biological males are individuals whose 23rd pair of chromosomes is composed of XY. Biological females have XX chromosomes as their 23rd pair. For males, the X comes from mom and the Y comes from dad. If we are talking about the word "male" in general, it refers to one's gender, which does not always match biological sex.
