- We are trying to calculate the perimeter of a rectangle
- The overall perimeter is 108ft
- Two sides width is w
- Two sides width is 2w-3
To find the perimeter of the rectangle, you have to double each individual length to calculate the perimeter of all four sides.
The algebraic equation for this question will be 2(w) + 2(2w-3)= 108 ( we multiply each dimension by 2 because there are 2 parallel pair sides in a rectangle.
We will first solve for w. Using the distributive power, and then adding the different values together, we find that w, width, is equal to 19ft.
Then we take 19, and plug it into the original dimensions and then we solve.
w=19ft
2w-3= 35ft
If we double up these sides and add them together we will get 108ft.
