I assume you meant f(x) = 12 instead of g(x). In that case, we are trying to solve the equation f(x) = 12, so we replace f(x) by its definition to get x/12 = 12. Multiply both sides by 12 to get x = 144, which is the answer.

Actually the way I typed it in was on a math paper for me. I stated that it was able to be computed and the teacher marked my answer as incorrect. I was not able to ask him what is the correct way to perform this problem so I entered it on this site. Can this equation have a solution?10/18/20

I stated that the answer was NOT able to be computed- sorry for the typo.10/18/20

Actually, I asked another student and he was saying it does not compute, but I needed to describe why it was not an equation that could be solved.10/18/20
