- Normal. Normal force is always perpendicular to the surface the object touches and depends on how hard they're pressed against each other.
- Tension. Tension is any pulling, contact force.
- A. Add all vectors to determine net force. Adding two vectors up and right will result in a northeast diagonal vector.
- i. The upward and downward forces are equal in magnitude, but opposite directions so they "cancel" each other out.
- e. The two vectors are not equal, and if up was positive (so downward has to be negative), the net force by adding the vectors would be 5N - 4N = 1N upward.
