Sulfur bacteria

Hi!

I have learned that sulfur bacteria are a type of chemoautotrophic bacteria.

So they take hydrogen sulfide and transform it to sulfate? Is that it? Is there any chemical reaction for it?

I would appreciate explanation on the matter :)

Nice, thanks. Mr. S :) I have a paper compenium that states that sulfur bacteria transforms hydrogen sulfide to hydrogen sulfate, but am I correct in presuming it is wrong information?

It is NOT wrong information. It is correct as indicated by the chemical equation I gave you. The hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is converted to sulfate, SO4^2-.

The hydrogen sulfate is actually H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) which I have shown as SO4^2- and 2H^+
