To factor a monomial from an expression you need to divide each term of the expression by the monomial.
In this case you need to remember the rule for dividing variables with exponents, which is
x^b / x^a = x^(b-a)
So x^(7/2) / x^(1/2) = x^(6/2) = x^3
and x^(1/2) / x^(1/2) = 1
So x^(7/2) - x^(1/2) = x^(1/2) * (x^3 - 1)
