Equation 1 can be factored. Factor it using the methods you have been taught and set each binomial equal to zero. The answers will be x = -3/2 and x = 4
Equation 2 you can take the square root of both sides. Remember that the square root has both a positive and negative version. Also remember that you can simplify √24 so ±√24 will not be your final answer.
Equation 3 you can use the quadratic formula. x = [-b ± √(b2 - 4ac)]/(2a) where a = 1, b = 8 and c = 8. You should get -4 ± 2√2
