An angle measures seventeen more than three times a number. It's supplement is three more than seven times the number. What is the measure of each angle?

Let x = a number

 

Angle 1 = 3x+17

Angle 2 = 7x+3

 

Since supplementary angles add up to 180 degrees, your equation will be

 

3x+17+7x+3 = 180

 

10x+20 = 180

 

10x = 160

 

x = 16
