please show me how to calculate the momentum of a 75 kg speed skater moving forward at 16 m/s.  and how to calculate the velocity of a 0.8 kg kitten with the momentum of 5 kg*m/s forward

p = mv . where

 

p = momentum

m = mass

v = velocity

 

For the speed skater

 

p = (75 kg)(16 m/s) = 1200 kg*(m/s)

 

For the cat

 

v = p/m = (5 kg*(m/s))/(0.8 kg) = 6.25 m/s
