In the urea cycle, the rating limiting enzyme is carbomoyl phosphate synthase or CSP-1. It is this enzyme that is allosterically activated by N-acetylglutamate or NAG. In the liver where the urea cycle takes place, NAG concentration determines the rate of urea production.
