Two factory plants are making TV panels. Yesterday, Plant A produced

fewer panels than Plant B did. Three percent of the panels from Plant A and
4%
of the panels from Plant B were defective. How many panels did Plant A produce, if the two plants together produced
930
defective panels?

Answer 1

B = panels B produced

B - 4000 = panels A produced

 

0.04B + 0.03(B - 4000) = 930

0.04B + 0.03B - 120 = 930

0.07B = 1050

B = 15000

 

A produced 11,000 panels and B produced 15,000.

3%(B-4000)+4%(B)=930

0.03(B-4000)+0.04B=930

0.03B-120+0.04B=930

0.07B-120=930

0.07B=930+120

B=15,000 panels produced by plant B
