To cross the the fraction bar, always change the sign of the exponent. For example, if you have 2/x2 then you could also write it as 2x-2.
When you have things in your expression that have the same base to a power, you can combine like terms. For example, if you have x2x5. Both have the same base which is x. If they are multiplying, you can add the exponents and keep the base to combine like terms ( x2x5=x7). If they are dividing like they are in this problem, you have to subtract the exponents (x-2/x-5= x-2-(-5)= x3).
