Louie has 20 more thanhalf as many beaseball cards as Gerardo.

Together they hav at least 350 cards.

Write an inequality to represent the situation.

Translate in algebraic terms the word problem :

 

[ 20 + x/2 ] + x  >=  350 ;  x being the number of cards possessed by Gerardo !

 

Clean the expression -------> 3 x/2  +  20  >= 350

Let x be the number of cards that Gerardo has.

 

So Louis has 1/2 x + 20 = x/2 + 20.

 

Together they have x + x/2 + 20, which is 3x/2 + 20.  Since that's "at least 350", you can write:

 

3x/2 + 20 ≥ 350
