Hi Anita! To answer your question, the South seceding was "right" according to themselves, and "wrong" according to the North because of the specific reasons why they seceded. Their threats to leave the Union were because they felt that the North was not complying with the Fugitive Slave Laws and the Dred Scott decision, but the official declaration to secede came when Abraham Lincoln won the election because they knew that this threatened slavery. So the South felt they were right in seceding to preserve their way of life, but the North saw this as wrong as it broke up the United States. Hope this helped!
