If this problem is represented as a dom./rec - dihybrid cross than the specified criteria works, achieving the classical 9:3:31 ratio , with 9 f2 offspring dom. /dom for two different, non-linked allelic pairs. The trick is that if the criteria for "A" best alleles symbols are represented for the dibybrid (P) crossing as AaA'a' X AaA'a'. Perhaps Aa are alleleles for long and short hair while A'a are alleles for curly/straight hair.Solving for the f1 genotypic (try a 16 sq. Punnett if you like) resutswill provide seven of sixteen offspring with indetermediate "Aa" genotypes (for phenotype hair length) as : AaA'A', AaA'a', AaA'a', Aaa'a', AaA'A', AaA'a', AaA'a'. Seven in all.
