Peninsula [from the Latin paene (almost) insula (island)] is a piece of land that is MOSTLY surrounded by water but still is connected to mainland on one side. If your assignment is about a specific map of the ROman Empire- make sure you check that map. On a typical map of the Roman Empire these three are peninsulas
- Italia
- Asia Minor
- Hispania
Look at those three on the map and see how they are *mostly* surrounded by water
