Regarding career as a Wildlife Biologist

I have a really important question to ask,

I am 22 years passed high school in India with Physics , Chemistry and Mathematics in 2016. Then moved to canada did a diploma in Computer Networking graduated in 2018.

I have a question can i still pursue BSc in Wildlife or zoology, please tell me best option possible for me. I have nobody that i can take suggestions from about that. Please tell me what will be the best option for me. I have spent all my life watching animal documentaries on Discovery channel and Animal planet over and over again. I have realized that the only thing i will be good at. I am a little overwhelmed sorry about that. It will be a huge favour if anyone can help me out here.

I have never thought about that pursuing career in wildlife before, that’s why i was moving towards the field in which I had never interested in it . I was doing it because family told me so. There are different fields working with wildlife which haven’t researched about yet. So far i know i want to be a wildlife biologist work as researcher in the field. My biggest question am I eligible to get admission in BSc Biology or Zoology with my study background which i have mentioned above. With no Biology in my study background?

Yes. Different background is very helpful in pursing a biology degree. I have friends who used to study math and computer and are in biology field now.

In research field, there are a lot of freedom. For BS, usually universities have specific requirement for admission. The best way to find out is to visit school website or talk with school administrators. I think every university's policy is different too.

Your academic background may help with admission to University. To study Biology and Zoology you will use these topics but since you lack any Biological Science courses you may find that you will have to take classes in those topics before you are considered a candidate for admission to a degree program centered on the Biologic Sciences. Professors and Instructors build on prior knowledge, and expect you to know sound basics ,their focus is to progress the students from their previous studies. University professors are not there to teach you the courses you should have already taken. Even at the lower classes in Biology and Zoology prior knowledge is mandatory, as well as knowledge of outdoor activities like hiking, map and compass orienting in the wild, remote camping, wilderness travel. Wildlife research does involve those necessary skills since the research is not carried out in a laboratory. Ask yourself if you really are prepared to make that change, speak with several admission counselors and do your own research about the actual activities that wildlife research entails. If you are not sure, please investigate the field before you make a decision.
