To find the slope and y-intercept of the line the easiest way is to convert the equation from standard form which it is in now to slope-intercept form. Here's how we do that:
4X + 3Y = -3 First subtract 4X from both sides
4X + 3Y - 4X = -4X -3 The 4X terms on the left now cancel each other out
3Y = -4X - 3 Now divide all terms by 3 so we can get Y all by itself.
3Y/3= -4X/3 -3/3 Simplify
Y = -4/3X - 1 Now that we're in slope intercept form, you can see that the slope is -4/3
and the Y-intercept is -1. To graph, mark a dot at the point of the Y-intercept (0,-1)
then from that point go down 4 and to the right 3 and mark a dot at that point (3,-3)
Draw a straight line that goes through both dots and you have your graph.
