What are these letters doing in my equations? Here comes algebra!
Hi Makayla--
It just means that to measure the Volume (V) of a rectangular prism (or what normal people call "a box") you measure its length, its width, and its height.
So, for example, if you grab a regular kleenex box and measure how long, wide, and high it is, you'll probably get numbers like
11 inches, 5 inches, and 4 inches. When you multiply them together, you get 11 x 5 x 4 = 220.
So the Volume would be called "220 cubic inches," because that's how many little 1-inch cubes you could fit in a box that size.
Hope this helps you with your HW!
