1) Seagrass takes nutrients and organic matter from sedimentary organic matter. Other aquatic plants also take nutrients from there.
2) Seagrass is eaten by Epibenthic fishes and invertebrates which are themselves eaten by aquatic birds and pelagic fishes.
3) Aquatic birds are eaten by pelagic fish also.
4) Upon death, the pelagic fishes are decomposed by zooplanktons and organic matter is returned to sediments.
5) Some phytoplanktons are also present which directly take organic matter from sediments and upon their death, organic matter is returned to sediments by action of zooplanktons.
